How many pieces of chicken can each pressure fryer cook and how long does it take?
The Henny Penny range consists of a 4, 6 & 8 head fryer. Each unit’s capacity is specified in heads of chicken. Each chicken would usually be cut into 9 pieces, therefore the 4-head unit would be able to cook 36 pieces, while the 6-head produces 54 pieces etc. Each unit has a cook time of around +/- 10 min per load.
What sort of equipment is required for a basic chicken restaurant? »
What sort of equipment is required for a basic chicken restaurant?
This will vary according to the menu but the basic equipment consists of pressure fryers, open fryers, tables, sinks, dump trolleys, breading tables, humidified chicken warmers, marinators and chip dumps. All other equipment would be restaurant specific.
How does the pressure frying process work? »
How does the pressure frying process work?
Once the chicken has been prepared and cut the pieces are breaded using 1.64kg of breading spice and 10kg flour along with water. Egg or milk may be used as an alternative but water is recommended. Once this is done, the chicken pieces are ready to be pressure fried before being displayed in the humidified warmer.

Manufactured items can take 6 to 8 weeks from date of order to completion.

Imported goods can take 8 to 10 weeks from date of order to arrival at Foodserv’s warehouse.

Does Foodserv stock second-hand equipment?
No, but on occasion Foodserv will have showroom equipment and old stock available at reduced prices.

Yes. Foodserv distributes throughout the whole of Africa.

Where can I get the coating (breading) for my pressure fried products?
There are many spices available on the market, but Foodserv does offer a spice of its own.
Is staff training available? »
Is staff training available?
All of our customers and clients are given free staff training. Extra training is available at the customer’s expense.
Is Foodserv able to assist with restaurant design? »
Is Foodserv able to assist with restaurant design?
Yes. Foodserv makes use of the latest design software, and our in-house draftsman is dedicated to kitchen design of the very highest quality.
What would a complete coffee/chicken shop cost me? »
What would a complete coffee/chicken shop cost me?
This would depend on the type of equipment and size of restaurant but, on an average, the basic shop will cost between R500 000 and R750 000.
What does the warrantee cover? »
What does the warrantee cover?
Any parts that fail within a period of twelve months from date of sale of equipment will be covered by this guarantee.
Labour costs incurred to replace failed parts within the first three months from date of sale will also be covered by this guarantee.
After three months all labour costs, including travelling, will be for the customer’s account.
Damage, failure or malfunction due to misuse or poor maintenance is expressly excluded from any guarantee.

Yes. Foodserv prides itself on service, and is able to assist all of its customers on a country-wide basis.

Does Foodserv carry all the relevant spare parts?
Yes. Foodserv carries all the major spares relating to our equipment ranges for the various agencies we hold.
What happens if I need a spare part that Foodserv does not carry or does not have in stock? »

Foodserv will order the stock with a lead-time of 8 to 10 weeks.
How do I log a service call? »
How do I log a service call?
You would need to contact Foodserv’s service department on (011) 616-5183 and chat to one of our service consultants after which the consultant will log the call and issue you with a reference number.

How do I purchase spare parts?
You would need to contact Foodserv’s spares department on (011) 616-5183 and chat to one of our spares consultants who will require the Serial number of the unit and a description of the spare needing to be replaced.
How long does it generally take to complete a service or maintenance job? »
How long does it generally take to complete a service or maintenance job?
It depends on the type of job, but in most cases our technicians will complete jobs within a day.
Can Foodserv deliver spare parts to me? »
Can Foodserv deliver spare parts to me?
Yes. Foodserv is able to deliver spare parts, but a delivery charge would be incurred.
Where do I get the correct chemicals for the equipment I have purchased? »
Where do I get the correct chemicals for the equipment I have purchased?
Foodserv is able to supply the relevant chemicals for the equipment which require these during operation. Alternatively Foodserv is able to advise on any other basic chemicals used for general cleaning of certain equipment.
What information should I have ready when enquiring about spare parts? »

You should have the model number and serial number on hand.
Does Foodserv offer service plans on its equipment? »
Does Foodserv offer service plans on its equipment?
Yes. Foodserv is able to offer additional service plans and these can run for any period of time depending on the customer.
What am I responsible for as a customer prior to the delivery of my equipment? »
What am I responsible for as a customer prior to the delivery of my equipment?
It is very important that all electrical and plumbing requirements have been set up prior to delivery of the equipment. Foodserv is able to advise on these.
Does Foodserv provide follow-up training? »
Does Foodserv provide follow-up training?
Yes. Once equipment has been purchased the customer is entitled to two days of free training. Additional training can be arranged at a cost of R750 per day.
Is it possible to test my product on Foodserv’s equipment prior to purchasing? »
Is it possible to test my product on Foodserv’s equipment prior to purchasing?
Yes. Foodserv allows you to make use of its test kitchen, where prospective customers are able to take part in product and equipment testing.
